Baselworld 2011 Citizen "Appleseed XIII"

Citizen plans to release in the fall a model inspired after the anime Appleseed XIII and is also capable of receiving time calibration through GPS satellites.  Quite an interesting look and technology to boot.

GPS satellite time syncing is the wave of the future. Very interesting model and shows how serious and committed Citizen is regarding time adjusting radio controlled technologies. I however, hope that this watch is not too far ahead of its time. Prices have not yet been announced.

I sure hope it will be affordable but I'm prepared for a 1,000+ US$ price tag - which means I'd probably never get one :-( - Still a very cool idea to use GPS - wonder why nobody thought of that earlier. Finally Australia can have atomic time without having to build a transmission tower :-)

Argh - just read in another blog that it's probably at 3,500US$ and only 500 produced (probably only sold in Japan, too). Looks like I will have to wait till this becomes more affordable :-(
