Citizen Appleseed Satellite Wave: New Information has been released

That's right folks. Citizen Japan released early this morning new information about their most exciting new watch offering of the year. Citizen has positioned themselves , once again, as the pioneers of GPS satellite enabled timekeeping.

Some quick tid bits of information about the new watch:

  • Limited edition release of 990 pieces world wide
  • Japan retail price: 336,000 YEN ($ 4,164 USD at today's exchange rates)
  • Movement: Eco-Drive Satellite Wave caliber H990
  • Dimensions: 48.5mm case width by 20.4mm thick (This watch is a monster!)
  • Materials: Sapphire crystal with AR coating.
  • Steel + Ceramic case with Duratect coating
  • Urethane band strap
  • Water resist to 5 ATM or 50 meters
  •  Functions: GPS satellite signal reception, perpetual calendar, world time for 26 major cities (No alarms, chronographs or count down timers on this watch).

Market release date: Early to mid September, 2011.

I had the idea 8/2009, sent it to Citizen (Pres. Tsuneo Nagai) to create a GPS-managed watch. The did it, its great. Its like a draem!!

Congratulations Thomas.

Can you also ask Citizen to stop making odd sized lug widths and also use a radio controlled module in their Signature line? I have already asked, but maybe you have more connections.

The price didn't bother me and I was interested until I saw the thickness.

20mm is a killer.
