Orient Delivers a New Look to an Old Favorite

Orient has redesigned their venerable Mako line of dive styled watches.

Although today you don't see the Mako on watch forums as much as you used to, it is still a popular model and represents an excellent example of a "bang for your buck" watch.

The new model, which has been dubbed "Ray" by the Orient USA site, feature a similar sub-styled case and prominent pusher at 2 o'clock as the Mako.  In case you are wondering this pusher adjusts the day display.  The bezel insert has larger digits.  Gone is the Fifty-Fathoms styled dial and is replaced with traditional circular index markers.  The Mako's hands are also replaced with something new and this time around  a proper lumed second hand is included. Looks like there is a nice engraved caseback like that on the CER1A diver I reviewed before and I believe the caliber is the same as the Mako.

Models include blue (EM65009D), black (EM65008B), and orange (EM6500AM) dialed options.  Full MSRP on the Orient USA site is $215 for bracelet models.  Other models may be available internationally.

Be sure to check out Yeoman's blogs as he has some real life pictures and some first hand impressions of this model.
